Augusta, Georgias 4th of July celebration will kick off at 5pm at the Augusta Common, 836 Reynolds Street. The community is invited to celebrate with us with live entertainment, kid zones, food trucks, vendors, etc. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30pm. Admission is free.

Augusta Enforces State Order for Burn Ban April 22, 2026
The Augusta Fire Department is informing residents of a burn ban issued by the State of Georgia through the Georgia Forestry Commission.Effective immediately, open outdoor burning is prohibited in 91 Georgia counties, including Augusta, Georgia. This action is in response to ongoing drought conditions and an increase in wildfire activity across the state.In addition, the Environmental Protection Divisions Summer Open Burn Ban will take effect on May 1, 2026, and remain in place through September 30, 2026. This seasonal restriction prohibits the burning of yard debris and land-clearing materials. The year-round prohibition on burning household garbage also remains in effect.Residents are encouraged to follow these guidelines to help reduce fire risk and protect the community.For more information on burn restrictions, residents are encouraged to visit the Georgia Forestry Commission or Georgia Environmental Protection Division websites.

The Augusta 2027 Budget Priorities Survey is now live, and the Augusta, Georgia, Government is asking residents to share their feedback.The survey gives residents an opportunity to share what matters most to them as Augusta begins early planning for the 2027 budget process, including feedback on city services, funding priorities, infrastructure needs, and future community concerns. 2024 Annual Assessment Notices
Personal Property Annual Assessment notices from the Board of Assessors were mailed on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Property owners have 45 days from this date to appeal the assessment for Digest Year 2024. The appeal period ends July 26, 2024. Real Estate Annual Assessment notices from the Board of Assessors are scheduled for mailing on Friday, June 14, 2024. Property owners have 45 days from this date to appeal the assessment for Digest Year 2024. The appeal period ends July 29, 2024.

Barton Chapel Road Remains Closed for Underground Piping
Augusta, Georgia Government is reminding motorists that Barton Chapel Road remains closed to through traffic between Gordon Highway and Wrightsboro Road.The closure began July 27, 2026, and is expected to remain in place through August 14, 2026, while crews complete underground piping installation.Traffic control personnel and clearly marked detour routes remain in place to guide motorists around the work zone.Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and use caution when traveling in the area.Augusta, Georgia Government media inquiries may be directed to Communications Manager Chiquita Richardson at (762) 343-9525

Start Date and Temporary Relocation for Candlelight Jazz
